Ray Stedman was in my opinion one of the great theological minds of the 20th century - like C.S. Lewis - making the Scriptures accessible and understandable to the simplest person. I would have benefitted greatly if I had encountered Ray's teachings earlier in my Christian life, as it would have spared me a lot of wasted years and prevented me from barking up the wrong theological tree.Instead of analysing individual verses and getting sidetracked on single out-of-context verses, Ray chose to talk broadly about themes that run through the whole of scripture, and looks at the whole message of a letter or a gospel and fit it into the entire theme of the New Testament. Interspersed with his own quirky humour and unassuming humility.
Ray's books and messages have been a great benefit to me and I have used his material and methods for my own Bible studies. and

Good
Great - inspiring
Hadn't read anything by this author before and it was really good. Similar to a commentary but not the format of a commentary. Does not follow verse by verse or chapter by chapter but over view of the Testament is very well done.
I'm so looking forward to being able to take this with me on my iPad Pro. I enjoy reading the full book (old and new testaments), however, it can be unwieldly to hold. This way I can read it anywhere I like.
Great resource! Especially for someone with limited knowledge of the Bible. Explains a lot of terminology and events in an easy to understand way.
I absolutely loved this book! Gave me a new perspective, helping all the pieces from over the years to fall into place -) Regret not reading this 30 years ago, but grateful to have read it now...All in God's time. I recommend this for people exploring Christianity, as well as people who have studied the Bible in depth. Also recommend the Old Testament companion volume.
